Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with fourteen other countries of the Danube region, took part in the development of the “WITHOUT GMO Standards” program for the Danube region and became the first country to adopt a national GMO Guide.
In April 2019, Bosnia and Herzegovina became the first country in the region to certify and label products with the regional quality mark “WITHOUT GMO PRODUCTION”, and this confirmed that it follows European production trends without genetically modified organisms.
The quality mark “WITHOUT GMO production” ensures that the entire production process is monitored and certified in accordance with the GMO standard for the Danube region. It is a unique sign for the entire region and is the result of many years of cooperation between the Danube Soybean Association of 14 European Ministries of Agriculture and Food Safety in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the Paria news agency, the first successful examples of certification and labeling “NO GMOs” in Bosnia and Herzegovina were implemented in cooperation with Bingo (eggs Bingo) and Bimal (vegetable oil).
