The shortage of domestic cabbage in the Russian market has reached its climax. As a result of the lack of their own cabbage “resources,” retail chains and market distributors are steadily raising their price and are starting to sell off the latest batches of Russian white culture.

In just a week, prices for cabbage on Russian trading floors soared by as much as 8%.

To compensate for the shortage of its own cabbage, Russia purchases it in large volumes from Belarusian suppliers (which is sold at an average price of 35 rubles per 1 kilogram). However, Russian consumers are generally dissatisfied with the quality of imported cabbage. At the same time, market analysts assure that cabbage (both domestic and imported) will go up in price further, as sellers do not intend to miss the opportunity to earn extra money on situations when demand exceeds supply.
