Cool weather, established in most of Ukraine, interfered with the vital activity and mass flight of the stem corn moth. This was told by the agronomist Oleg Zagorodni.

The landowner says that during this time he visited half of Ukraine and did not notice the mass flight of the above pest anywhere. This was due to a decrease in air temperature, which is especially true for the central, western and northern regions of the country.

Traps set by agrarians are mainly visited by males, very few females. At such low night temperatures, the pest does not breed and there are no ovipositions.

Corn moth

In the coming week, weather forecasters predict a further decrease in air temperature. This means that the situation with the corn moth will be unchanged.

Oleg Zagorodni believes that in such conditions the introduction of trichograms, as well as chemical plant protection products containing chlorantraniliprol and flubendiamide is irrational.

Not so long ago, a large number of corn moths were seen on the lands of the Poltava region. About this on his Facebook page wrote agronomist researcher Alexander Vasiliev, who monitored the spread of this pest.
