PE “Poddubny” (Poltava region), which specializes in breeding broilers, has replaced the cross with Cobb 500, the company’s owner Andrei Poddubny said in a statement.
Previously, 50% of the parent herd of the enterprise consisted of birds of the cross Hubbart, which was very popular among the population. The second half was formed by the cross Cobb 500.
According to the head of the enterprise, a decision was made on the complete transition to growing Cobb 500 cross. For the next plantings, the company has already concluded contracts with a supplier. Thus, the entire parent flock of a private enterprise will consist only of individuals from the Cobb 500 cross.
According to Andrei Poddubny, the choice of economy fell on this cross due to the high demand for it from other farmers. Cobb 500 chickens are more suitable for industrial use and provide better feed conversion rates than Hubbart.
For information, crosses of poultry (from the English cross: “crossbreeding”) - are called hybrids of breeds and lines of poultry (most often these are hens of egg or meat breeds), which were obtained subject to strictly prescribed, rather complicated rules.
As a rule, crosses are obtained under industrial conditions under the supervision of livestock specialists. The process of getting crosses is called crossbreeding.
