When the company collected all the necessary documents and began construction work, protests began to come from local residents. On February 17 this year, a public hearing was held in the club of the village of Podgornoye with the participation of all parties to the conflict. They were also attended by Khutr’OFF activists and representatives of the National Team.
The main concerns of the local population are related to the fact that the farm will be a source of bad smell and adversely affect people's health. The argument in favor was the hope for new jobs. Opening a fur farm now is an ungrateful job, said animal protector Anton Vakulenko from Khutr’OFF organization. He draws attention to the fact that the bill banning the fur business in Ukraine is already under consideration by deputies and the adoption of the law will take place sooner or later.
As a result, out of 115 present at the hearing, 74 people voted “for” the opening of the fur farm, 32 voted “against”. Thus, the farm in Volyn will soon be operational.
Volyn lawyer Nazariy Shcherbyak believes that the public hearing was lawful.
