Blueberry sales on the domestic market of Ukraine are insignificant and actually tend to zero, said Oleg Naumenko, co-owner of Yagodki (Big Big TM) joint venture. According to him, Ukrainian producers of this berry may encounter a complete collapse in its cultivation in a few years.
According to Oleg Naumenko, growing blueberries in Ukraine may end in collapse, which will result in a lack of sales and a large volume of unsold products. The sad fate will not befall unless the organic berry, since it is always in high demand, unlike the usual conditional berry.
Many blueberry producers in Ukraine do not think about the choice of varieties, do not look for markets and trading partners. They immediately lay the plantations and report it online, but after 3 years of cultivation they understand that they can not sell the goods.
Sales problems arise due to low yields and the use of the wrong approaches to growing berries. At the same time, blueberries are not of high quality, although tens of millions of euros are invested in the business.
At the same time, production is unprofitable and easier to close than to bring it to a normal level, says Oleg Naumenko.
The specialist noted that for the cultivation of blueberries you need to choose varieties that tolerate transportation well, and also have good quality, size and shape.
