Despite all the requests and warnings of rescuers, citizens of Ukraine continue to flagrantly violate fire safety rules and burn dry vegetation in windy weather. The number of such fires is increasing daily.

Over the past day alone, fighters of the State Emergency Service eliminated 46 such fires, more than 100 hectares of territory were affected by fire. A significant part of the unfortunate hosts do not think about what they doom themselves and others because of burning dead wood. So, on Saturday in the village of Dovbysh, Baranovsky district, Zhytomyr region, spouses of retirement age died as a result of arson.

On the incident, firefighters were notified by doctors on April 6 at 09:39. It turned out that an elderly woman, along with her husband, were engaged in arsonization of dry grass near the house. Seeing that the bushes were already burning, and the fire was approaching housing, the pensioners hastened to extinguish the fire. Clothes suddenly caught fire on a woman, and an 82-year-old man received burns in 80% of his body. His wife said goodbye to life at the scene, grandfather died today at 06:30 in the Romanov central district hospital.

Rescuers were not called to extinguish the fire. All circumstances are now being established by law enforcement agencies. Since the beginning of 2019, this is the third case of deaths due to the burning of dry grass.

Firefighters are asked to adhere to fire safety rules and remember that they will not succeed in extinguishing the fire with such arson. Flames can spread to trees, bushes, utility and residential buildings, and also lead to human casualties. Along with asphyxiating smoke, harmful substances enter the air. It is better to compost leaves and grass to get humus for the garden.
