In July, the days of practical training for students of the Odessa State Agrarian University for this academic year are completed with the support of the Odessa Regional Agricultural Service "Center for Development and Legal Support of the Village" in the framework of the Ukrainian Horticulture Business Development Project (UHBDP).
In the course of practice, future farmers got acquainted with the history of the development of farms and their specialization, learned about the features of the produce business and its formation.
Students of the agro-biotechnological faculty and university teachers visited such modern, innovative and well-known farms as FC Daniil IK (village Osinovka), Farm PrimeFruit (village Dmitrovka) and Victoria Victoria (village Bashtanovka).
Students had the opportunity to observe how new plantations are laid from the grown strawberry seedlings on the basis of the DANIIL IK cultural center (supervisor Sergey Yutsikov). Also visited the plantings of raspberries and blackberries, where the dean of the Agrobiotechnology Department of the OGAU Irina Ishchenko spoke about the features of growing these crops.
A real fruit miracle awaited students at the Prime Fruit Fruit Farm, where the farm director Pyotr Dalakov introduced students to new varieties of stone fruit and pome fruit trees.
Juicy, aromatic cherries are grown in the Victoria Farm. The head of the farm, Alexander Kozhukharenko, demonstrated a very good yield of cherries of different varieties. Of particular interest to students was the line for washing, sorting, calibrating, filling and cooling cherries.
Obtaining practical knowledge and experience is one of the components for students, without which today it is difficult to get a job. Therefore, students take an active part in events during which they can in practice familiarize themselves with current trends in their chosen professional field, and enterprises, in turn, are very looking forward to young interested agronomy specialists in the fruit and vegetable business.
