The fall in prices for this product began in January. In February, it continued due to the entry into the market of small lots of inexpensive beets from the population. In Poland, similar processes are taking place. There, the price of the product fell by 40%.
Recall that at the beginning of 2018, beet prices in Ukraine were high and amounted to 9-10 UAH / kg. Only in April they began to decline and stopped at around 7-8 UAH / kg. Compared to November 2017 prices, beets rose 2.5 times.
The reduction in product prices in 2018 occurred immediately after the import of a large consignment of beets from Poland to Ukraine in the second half of March. The 2018 borsch set was more expensive in Ukraine than in Poland. Before Easter, sellers tried to unreasonably raise prices for root crops, but their attempts were unsuccessful due to an instant decrease in demand, Info-Shuvar experts report.
