Since yesterday, March 5, 2019, restrictions have been introduced on the supply of Vietnamese live pigs, pork and other livestock products related to pig breeding and slaughter to the Russian market.
The restrictions apply to products that have been manufactured or grown near outbreaks of African swine fever.
It is known that this virus over the past few months has caused a lot of trouble to Vietnamese breeders and their colleagues around the world. According to the Rosselkhoznadzor, in the Vietnamese farms, ASF infections have been re-registered.
As a result, the import of not only live pigs and their meat, but also used equipment for keeping, slaughtering and cutting pigs and their carcasses into the Russian Federation is prohibited. The ban also applies to hunting trophies, embryos and semen of Vietnamese domestic pigs. The only exceptions are those products that have been heat-treated according to a method that 100% guarantees the destruction of the pathogen of African swine fever. This applies to finished products from pork meat or products that contain pork. An exception is the raw material from Vietnamese pork, which is intended for the manufacture of feed for fur animals and unproductive animals.
It is noted that the ban on the import of pork also applies to the transit of potentially dangerous products through the territory of the Russian Federation.
