Vinnytsia agrarians not only planted the entire projected area with millet, but also exceeded the sowing plan by 43.4%. ha, as reported by the Vinnitsa regional state administration.
In total, spring grain sown on an area of 84.1 thousand ha, which is 87.2% of the forecast 96.4 thousand. In particular, corn was sown on grain on 386.8 thousand ha, or 96.5%, buckwheat - 3 , 6 thousand ha (54.5%), sorghum - 18 ha (1.3%).
44.8 thousand hectares, or 92.7%, were sown with sugar beets, 233.9 thousand hectares (94.3%) by sunflower, 96.6 thousand hectares (73.5%) by soybeans. Earlier it was reported that due to high prices for millet, agricultural officials asked agricultural producers of the Vinnitsa region to sow more millet.
So, in the last days of April this year, 1 kg of millet was sold in the markets for 35 UAH, which is 1 UAH more than at the beginning of the month. In stores, the price of cereals reached 40-42 UAH / kg.
The regional authorities appealed to the farmers with a written request. Vinnitsa farmers revised their plans for the sowing campaign, including millet in the list of crops grown in 2019.
Thus, the letters of officials had their effect. The farmers of the Vinnitsa region not only fulfilled, but also exceeded the plan for sowing millet.
