Representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine met with the Director General of the European Commission "Agriculture and Rural Development", in which they discussed the new Ukrainian law on organic production.
In addition, the parties discussed options for cooperation and information exchange between the European Union and Ukraine on the control and monitoring of the sector of organic production and trade in organic products, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said.
The parties paid special attention to the provisions of the law of Ukraine on the production of organic products relating to the supervision and control of operators and certification bodies, as well as the discussion of the control and monitoring system in the EU.
The meeting participants discussed the interaction between Ukraine and the EU in terms of implementing the development strategy of agriculture and rural lands of Ukraine until 2020.
For information, as of March 14 of this year, 617 organic production operators were registered in Ukraine.At the end of 2018, their number was 588, said the president of the Organic Ukraine public union, Elena Berezovskaya, in the framework of the III International Congress of Organic Ukraine 2019.
