Over the past week, Ukraine continued to increase prices for greenhouse tomatoes. At the end of last week, vegetable prices rose to the level of 30-40 UAH / kg. salad tomato and 35-45 UAH./kg. pink tomato.
At the same time, in the previous week, tomatoes were sold on average at a price of 24-30 UAH / kg. salad tomato, and for pink they asked for 38-40 UAH / kg.
Against the background of a general increase in prices, prices for tomatoes (from 39 UAH / kg. In May-June to 100 UAH / kg. In January-April) all this year looked quite reasonable, but now, when prices should have decreased by 40-50%, they remain high, and even grow little by little.
The presence of imported products from Turkey, Spain, etc., indicates that the farmers hardly survived the heat and other natural phenomena or lost the lion's share of the tomato crop of open ground.
Earlier it was reported that the flood in Transcarpathia, which took place this spring, damaged the greenhouses of local farmers and left them virtually without crops and earnings. Water stood in the greenhouses for several days.
The plants died, and their fruits were already of a completely different quality and could not be transported. Farmers sold them in local markets at low prices. In the summer, the empty Transcarpathian greenhouses looked more like ruins. Their owners went to work in order to cover losses.
