Over the past week, products of the so-called “social” category have risen significantly in price in Russian markets in different regions of the country.

In particular, white cabbage, which a few days ago cost the Russian consumer 10% cheaper, reached a record price over the week. Onions rose by almost 3.5%, and the cost of carrots flew more than 2%. In other words, the price tag of the “borsch set” has grown.

Market analysts, having studied the current situation, make a disappointing verdict for Russian farmers and consumers: domestic farmers have not been able to learn how to properly harvest, distribute and store vegetables.

It should be noted that meat is becoming more expensive. So, over the past week lamb has risen significantly. Experts attribute the increase in the cost (by 2%) of this type of meat in Russian outlets with an increase in demand for this product.

The fact is that Muslims living on the territory of the Russian Federation just recently celebrated the Navruz vernal equinox, which offers a plentiful and satisfying treat on the table, where lamb occupies almost the leading position in a variety of dishes. Let's also add that it has risen slightly chicken (less than 1%), as well as chicken eggs (0.4%).
