Crimean farmers beat their own agricultural records. It's about the harvest of greenhouse vegetables of the new season.
As farmers themselves admit from the sunny peninsula, they managed to collect at least eight hundred tons of cucumbers and over thousand tons of greenhouse tomatoes as part of the first harvest of fruit and vegetable crops grown in closed ground.
It is reported that at the moment in the open gardens of Crimea more than three and a half thousand hectares are planted with vegetables. And this is almost half of the total area that is included in the assets of the peninsula farmers.Based on the information that the employees of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation shared with the public on their website, this year the area of the territories where Crimeans grow vegetables in open ground, they intend to increase to seven and a half thousand hectares, that is, two and a half times more than in 2018.
Today it is known that Crimean farmers intend to allocate more than five and a half thousand hectares of land for potato cultivation in 2019. Currently, only sixty percent of the land is planted with potatoes from the entire area of this territory.
