Ukrainian biologists have come to the conclusion that cultivating a plant like thyme is an unusually lucrative business for domestic farmers. The calculations of agricultural experts indicate that a generous crop worth three thousand dollars can be harvested from a thyme plantation with an area of one hectare. And this figure, according to the researchers, is only preliminary.
Having delved into the essence of the issue, biologists and agrarians jointly came to the conclusion that the average yields of fresh thyme vary in the range from five to six tons per hectare of land. Thyme dry shows average values in the range from two to two and a half tons per hectare. If we take into account only the essential oil of a plant, then in this case we can talk about indicators of 20-60 kilograms of this product per hectare.
“The cost of this oil depends on the quality of the product and the volume of packaging,” experts say. - So, for a hundred-milliliter vial, you can earn about $ 16. The highest quality oil will cost the buyer more - for a mini-bottle with a volume of 10 milliliters, you will have to pay about $ 18. On average, thyme oil is sold at a price of $ 140 per liter on the world market. ”
Ukrainian researchers are actively recommending their compatriots farmers to consider the cultivation and marketing of thyme as a potential way to earn great money. And they remind you that this crop is usually harvested in the middle of summer, when more than half of the plants are covered with flowers.
