After the first recorded case last month, an outbreak of African swine fever, this severe hemorrhagic animal disease, spread to the fourth province of the Republic of South Africa, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the Republic of South Africa reported on Monday, May 13.
The ministry said the last outbreak was reported in the Heilbronn region of the central province of Free, after last month the disease was found in the north-west of the country, in the provinces of Mpumalang and Gauteng.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of the South African Republic, the affected areas have been declared a quarantine zone.There, studies are conducted to identify the causes of outbreaks of diseases and identify other farms that may be affected by this dangerous animal disease. African swine fever is incurable in pigs, but harmless to humans. Since last year, the disease has spread to China, resulting in large losses to the world's largest pig population, which has declined by more than 60 million heads.Share
