The import of cattle, as well as its meat, into the territory of Ukraine from Spain is temporarily prohibited due to the danger of the spread of mad cow disease. But some products can still be on the shelves of Ukrainian outlets.
In February of this year, a case of atypical spongiform encephalopathy in cattle was recorded in Spain.
In connection with the discovery of this dangerous disease, Spain cannot supply cattle and some beef products to Ukraine, the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain said in a statement.After the release of information about the outbreak of rabies in Spain, the Ukrainian health authorities sent a message through the Spanish Embassy in Kiev about a temporary ban on the import of cattle, fresh meat on bones and mechanically separated meat, representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of Spain said.
The ban did not affect the import of: milk and dairy products; genetic material; collagen and gelatin; fats and their derivatives; blood and its derivatives from animals that were not clogged by introducing compressed air or gas into the cranium and did not undergo a puncture of the brain.
