The North Country of Claremont, NH American Smokehouse withdraws approximately 2,601 pounds of pork sausage products due to mislabeling.
The violation was identified by the US Department of Agriculture Food and Inspection Safety Service (FSIS). The smokehouse product has gluten on the front of the label, but the product also contains wheat gluten. Wheat, which is an allergen, is also listed on the product ingredients list.
Ready-to-eat pork sausage products were made on February 13, 2019. Products to be recalled - 12 oz. Vacuum packs with four pieces of “Sausages from a Natural Irish Brand Smokehouse North Country Smokehouse” with an expiration date on the packaging 04/15/19. Previously, these products were shipped to distribution and retail locations throughout the country.
Although there are currently no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to the consumption of these products, the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service is concerned that some products may be in consumer refrigerators or freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are strongly advised not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
