Leading experts from the international Institute of Physiology and Ecology, which is based in the Kenyan capital Nairobi, have come to stunning conclusions as a result of numerous experiments.
In particular, scientists were able to establish that animals such as zebras have a specific skin odor. And it turned out that this fragrance has a deterrent effect on tsetse flies.
These flies are sworn enemies of African farmers. These insects have long been terrorizing the agricultural sector of Africa in general and the livestock industry in particular, biting both the livestock and farmers themselves. Because of this, some African areas are currently abandoned due to hordes of insidious insects.
Today, the population of flies can only be controlled by the practice of processing farms and livestock with synthetic types of insecticides. However, this method cannot be called budgetary - the funds for processing fly into suffering farmers in a hefty amount.
In addition, this method has a negative impact on the environment. Therefore, scientists in Africa and around the world are making every effort to find the most environmentally friendly way to deal with tsetse flies.
As a result of such studies, it was found that the specific aroma of the skin of zebras reflects a tsetse attack. And today, scientists are actively working towards creating a safe repellent as an effective tool to combat the tsetse fly.
