According to Lyudmila Sukacheva, head of the veterinary committee of the Novgorod region, this week will go down in the history of the region as the period when the quarantine regime was established in the territory of the Batetsky district.
The fact is that it was here that an outbreak of infection of farm animals with the virus of African swine fever was recorded.
The lesion center was formed twenty-five kilometers west of the city of Veliky Novgorod. Confirmation that the virus entered the farms of the area was an examination with the biological material of two dead pigs.
The carcasses of dead animals were found on the territory of one of the farms of the Moikinsky rural settlement. And analyzes showed that it was the African plague that caused the death of pigs.
Today, the area where the outbreak was recorded is limited to sanitary cordons. The quarantine mode in the specified area will last until July 12 of the current year. The corresponding order was given by Andrei Nikitin, who heads the regional administration of the Novgorod region.
It will not be superfluous to note that at the moment the expanses of the Moikinsky rural settlement, within the framework of which the corpses of pigs were found, are cordoned off.
